A fun, diverse and detailed unit focused upon British Poetry! This unit has been created specifically to intigrate KS4 skills into the KS3 curriculum to prepare students for the rigors of the new 100% exam GCSE specification. The unit focuses upon exploration and analysis of the poems 'Jabberwocky' and 'Timothy Winters', and works best as a Year 7 scheme as its end-of-unit exam is tailored as a hybrid of KS2 SATs and GCSE. However, it could also be used with lower ability Year 8 or 9. A challenging, rigorous and detailed unit focused upon Shelagh Delaney's charming 1950s play 'A Taste of Honey'! This unit has been created specifically for the new AQA Paper 2a (Modern Texts) exam to be sat from June 2017. This unit focuses upon analysis of the whole text, punctuated by two practice exam questions (one focused upon character, the other on theme) plus a closed-book mock exam. Students are supported throughout these with sentence starters to help them structure their responses, and are given a choice of questions.
